Guess who is back!!! Turns out, good things happen just like how bad things happen, I just finished all of my high school work yesterday, now I'm an official graduate!!! Now all I have to wait is for my results, which is a very stressful period for me, but that's why I have my june obsessions!! I love how varied life is and I love how in every stressful period of my life, there will be always something I can just easily access and distract myself with. Recently as I finished high school I realized that my brain kinda decided to just melt down and be obsessed with extremely colorful and brainrotting media. Today I stand before you with my june obsessions with some of them being extremely calming and some of them being absolutely chaotic because as of right now, I cannot listen to the music I liked before (classical and jazz) or read books (except for fanfiction for some reason) and I can't do anything in real life because ITS TOO HOT OUTSIDE HELP,, anyways I will move on to my monthly favorites after yapping for too long.
1. Animal Crossing
(I'm wearing my ichimatsu hoodie in this picture lmao)
The reason why I enjoyed a lot of animal crossing this month comes from the fact that I actually got so brainrot I needed something to distract myself from. Even a game as calming as minecraft or stardew valley became feeling like a chore to me because in those games I usually cooperate with my friends and I always feel a pressure to make every build in minecraft perfect and stardew valley is just a lot of farming and I quickly found it to be boring to be completely honest. Now let's talk about how my island has been doing for its brief life span;
I had a switch for an entire year and I didn't even touch it. I had an island on animal crossing and it was messy and I didn't even have a proper house. The day after I finished my IB exams I made a bold move and deleted my game data to restart my island, and thus my newest island, my one and only, Caramel island was born.
The name just comes from me trying to find a cute but elegant name for my island, I just listed off words that came from the top of my head. The first few days on the island, I was obsessed. I believe I spent the first 5 days on there just waking up, playing animal crossing and going back to sleep, that sort of obsessed. I had a mission and a goal,, I was going to make my ACNH island look like the ones on pinterest. My island's first month anniversary was just yesterday and I can report that so far we got 6 villagers, my favorites being phoebe and marcie, they are just the cutest. Here's the most obsessive part though, I may have gotten a bit too addicted, and spent, like a lot of money on nintendo switch online subscription and an amiibo pack. To my most foreign readers coming from first world countries, y'all idek what an economy is and in our standarts thats like "I bought robux and now my parents can't pay rent" type expensive lmao.
Anyhow, life quality on the caramel island has raised significantly since my return to the exclusive products I was able to make for my island using nooklink and the sanrio amiibo pack. Everyone seems happy and I still have soo much to do ... the island is no where near what I want it to be. But for a beginner I find it rather comfy looking.
2. Will Wood
He has consistently been my number 1 on spotify for the past year and I have an insane amount of knowledge and different opinions about this guy. I can make a will wood iceberg video someday actually. But besides that let me tell the reason why I was obsessed with will wood this month. He is truly everything I was looking for in music. Jazzy and theatrical but still keeping rock elements with his violent screams and insane guitars, I just love everything about the genre that will wood is. I believe he is the leader of the lesser known similar style bands like that handsome devil, human zoo and tubring. He is also more known than those people because he did get to have an audience on tiktok - and as far as I know he absolutely hated every second of that - but I don't mind people finding out about him, maybe it will encourage him to make more music in the future? We can't actually know that because as far as I know for the past 2 years he has been on a break but I am hoping he returns with more music that sounds like the inside of my brain when I get bored while waiting in the line ^^
Some parts that I dislike about him does exists, he is addicted to several things I don't feel like mentioning, but he does in his song 6up-5oh-copout (that's one of his most normal track titles, believe me). He seems like he became a better person and has a life he enjoys now though, he keeps making silly jokes on his podcast with his friend called "life in the world to come" which always makes me laugh at jokes that a victorian child observing me would imagine that I come from a different planet for. With his some past scandals and absolute masterpieces of music left to be adored by the people of earth, I love him quite a lot and I would recommend his songs if you like jazz, rock, metal or basically any vintage music style and would like to hear an absolutely stunning original way that these old styles of music being reused as absolute bangers. I would suggest starting with his "less insane" songs though, such as; The main character, I/me/myself and vampire reference in a minor key, all of which will have you be like "Ohh so he uses blues style to make this reference and it works so well" I also recommend checking out his coffee haus sessions if you are more of a jazz fan, they are absolutely beautiful.
3. Osomatsu-san
If you do not look at this picture and go "aww they're so cute" then idk what to tell you.
These mochi faces are the sextuplets of the anime osomatsu-san, it features these 6 same faced brothers with different personalities doing silly goofy things because they are your unemployed friend on a tuesday 2 pm. I also have been binge watching all the seasons and I took it as my life's duty to keep these goof balls fandom alive, as far as I see there are still a lot of fans from both japan and abroad which gives me a lot of hope because since season 4 will air (maybe next year), we will see good feedback and get up to a 6th season which would make perfect sense considering there are 6 brothers.
The reason why you should give this anime a try is because of not the plot itself but both for the comedy aspect but also the important lessons it gives on society and life. The anime follows the life of high school graduates in their 20s who are NEETS, they don't have a job they don't have girlfriends and they are considered to not have a life and as failures. They kind of represent the hikikomori (shut in people) of Japan, except they are much more fun and since there's 6 of them, there's always something funny and exciting happening in their life. They still don't hold back the social commentary on perfectionist and highly expecting society though, in a lot of episodes we get to see the struggles they live as people who "failed" by society. In any case, it is a very fun anime and I have been in the fandom for the past 6 years now and I have still not ran out of new osomatsu-san content to find. My favorite matsu is ichimatsu because of his gloomy nature (he's the purple hoodie guy) and he actually helped me feel seen while I was going through stuff, this potentially explains how I didn't leave the fandom in 6 years and I don't plan on forgetting the matsuno brothers in long years and I would recommend it to anyone who is new to anime or already familiar, looking for something thats funny. It truly is an anime that is both enjoyable and meaningful, plus there is no male gaze which is revolutionary for anime if you ask me.
Welp there you go, I believe that's all I've been obsessed with this month. Actually there is much more to it, I mean I came back to the vocaloid and utau fandom because I listen to music thats has a lot going on these days for some reason and I'm not complaining. Right now, life sorta feels like 2019 and plan on attending more to my youtube channel and website for now because the nostalgia of 2019 hit me really hard. I actually knew all that I listed here before, but this month has been a rediscovery month than a new finds. I hope to return to my other hobbies such as reading though but I couldn't find a book that sparks the interest in reading to me so far. Plus the hot weather makes it unbearable to move around and do anything physical. I will be girlrotting for this month until my exam stress is over and I know what to do with my life for sure. I will see you guys soon and I will try to write more I promise, I also change the look of the website a little and added an about me page, so yeah I will see you guys byeee!!! <3
